Cookie Labs, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Cookie Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operates the CruiseCurator website and related services (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information you provide. - Account information: email address, authentication identifiers, and account settings. (Registration is optional; some features require it.) - Preferences you enter: your onboarding answers and other search criteria used to personalize sailings and Verdicts. - Saved activity: shortlists/saved sailings and price-alert subscriptions. - Communications: messages you send us and your email/alert interaction history (e.g., whether an alert email was opened or a link clicked).
Information collected automatically. - Usage and device data (log data): IP address, browser type, operating system, referring/exit pages, device identifiers, and dates/times and pages of your visits. - Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 4. - Affiliate click data: when you click a Deal link, an anonymous click identifier is generated so affiliate networks can attribute a booking to us.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information beyond account credentials, and we ask that you not submit it.
We use personal information to: operate the Service and generate personalized sailings and Verdicts; create and manage your account, shortlists, and price alerts, and send the alert and servicing emails you request; improve, train, and optimize our AI models and algorithms using de-identified and/or aggregated data only; measure and attribute affiliate referrals; communicate with you; maintain security and prevent fraud and abuse (including automated scraping); and comply with legal obligations.
We use automated processing and profiling to generate tailored sailing recommendations and Verdicts based on your preferences, search activity, and general location. These outputs are informational. You may contact us at privacy@cruisecurator.com for information about this processing.
We use a two-tier cookie model: - Essential/functional cookies (e.g., session and shortlist state) are necessary to run the Service. - Analytics and advertising cookies (e.g., product analytics and any third-party advertising or measurement partners) are used to understand usage and support advertising. You can control these through our cookie controls and your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising as described in Section 9. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of “sale”/“share” where applicable.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only as follows: - Service providers / processors who operate the Service on our behalf — for example, hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, and error-monitoring providers — under contracts that restrict their use of the data to providing services to us. - AI/model providers: where the Service uses third-party AI providers via API, processing data may be handled by them under their terms and, per those terms, is generally not used to train their public models. - Affiliate networks and Merchants: when you click a Deal, an anonymous click identifier is transmitted to affiliate networks and the Cruise Line to validate a referral; this does not disclose your name or identity to the Merchant. - Advertising/measurement partners: as described in Section 4 and subject to your choices. - Legal and safety: to comply with law, subpoena, or lawful request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Cookie Labs, our users, or the public. - Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, including in bankruptcy.
We may also use and share de-identified or aggregated information that cannot reasonably identify you.
Cookie Labs operates in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States and by U.S.-based service providers. The Service is tailored for U.S. residents and is not offered to individuals in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws, and you consent to processing of your information in the United States.
We keep personal information only as long as necessary: account and alert data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, or until you request deletion; log/analytics data for a limited window; and de-identified/aggregated data, which may be kept indefinitely to improve the Service. Retention criteria include operational needs, legal obligations, and dispute-resolution needs.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal-data breach affecting you occurs, we will notify affected users and authorities as required by applicable law.
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the rights to: confirm whether we process your data; access/know the categories and specific pieces we collect; delete your data; correct inaccuracies; and opt out of “sales”/“sharing” of personal information for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information for monetary value. Our use of third-party advertising/analytics cookies may be considered a “share” for targeted advertising under some state laws; you can opt out via Section 4, the GPC signal, and the industry tools below.
Personal information we collect, disclose, and share. In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1, which include: identifiers (such as email address, account identifier, device and online identifiers, and IP address); internet or other electronic network activity (such as pages viewed, searches, clicks, and interactions with our emails and alerts); coarse geolocation (such as the city or region inferred from your IP address); inferences drawn from the above (such as your likely cruise preferences); and, as sensitive personal information, your account credentials. We collect this information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Service, and from service providers and advertising partners. We disclose these categories to our service providers, affiliate networks, and advertising and analytics partners for the business and commercial purposes described in this Policy. We do not sell personal information for money; our use of advertising and analytics cookies may be considered a “share” for cross-context behavioral advertising, which you can opt out of as described below.
Sensitive personal information. The only sensitive personal information we process is your account credentials, and we use and disclose it solely for purposes permitted under applicable law that do not require an opt-out (for example, to provide and secure the Service). We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor GPC browser signals as a valid opt-out of “sale”/“share” for targeted advertising when you visit the Service with GPC enabled.
Interest-based advertising choices. You may opt out of interest-based advertising via the DAA (aboutads.info/choices) and NAI (networkadvertising.org) tools, and via your browser/device settings.
How to exercise rights. Email privacy@cruisecurator.com (or use in-product controls where available). We verify requests by matching information you provide against our records; you may use an authorized agent. If we decline, you may appeal by emailing us with subject “Appeal.”
Nevada. Nevada residents may submit a sale opt-out request to privacy@cruisecurator.com.
The Service is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (COPPA), and do not knowingly sell/share the data of anyone under 16. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. A parent or guardian may contact privacy@cruisecurator.com.
You can unsubscribe from marketing and alert emails using the link in any such message; we may still send account/servicing messages. If we offer SMS text messages in the future, we will send them only with your prior express consent, and you will be able to opt out at any time by replying STOP (message and data rates may apply). Every marketing email includes our physical mailing address as required by CAN-SPAM.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, posting the updated version with a new “Last Updated” date and, for material changes, additional notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
